Smt. Kalaimamani Kayalvizhi Kabilan, is an expert bharathanatyam teacher, performer, choreographer and performing arts organizer. 


Kalaimamani Guru Smt. Kayalvizhi Kabilan is a founder of "Kayals Academy" (School of Bharathanatyam).  She is a recipient of the most prestigious state award "Kalaimamani" from Tamil Nadu government in the year 2009. She has given more than 1000 stage performance in India and abroad. She is a Skillful, friendly and passionate teacher were your kids can learn the traditional and ancient art form bharathanatyam.

She has been conducting bharathanatyam dance training class in Sholinganallur, OMR, Chennai and also regular online class virtually. Students will be trained in 3 levels. First is junior level, here the student will learn intense adavu's training, body toning and exercises exclusively for dancers

Second is Sub-juniors, this level student will be learning Alaripu, Kowthvam, jathiswaram and Sabtham.

The third level the students will be learning Varnam, Thillana and Padams.

In advance level they will be learning Ashtapathi and Shrethraiya padams etc.They will also learn dance theory, slokas, thalams as a part of regular class.

7.5 years ago we met our Guru Shrimathi Kalamamani Kayalvizhi Kabilan. I had initially enrolled my daughter and in 6 months time, I requested, if I too can be her newbie student at an age of 35. Our Guru graciously accepted me and it has been an enriching experience in all these 7.5 years. The learning over the years on the nuances of not just dance, but talam, jathi, abhinayam, the mythological stories and slokas. Both my daughter and I have learnt to appreciate and respect the art. Not to mention the innumerable opportunities that our guru has given to us to perform at various dance stages, temples in injambakkam, mylapore, kumbakonam, papanasam, mayiladuthurai. Our Salangai Pooja practice and performance with live orchestra was memorable and turning point in our life as a dancer to learn the nuances of stage performance. All these experiences has helped us imbibe discipline, respect and focus in life. Dance is like meditation. Even during the pandemic, our online classes and learning has continued without any interruption with our Guru. We look forward for a life long journey and for more enriching experiences with our graceful, humble Guru Kayalvizhi Kabilan. Pranams!

Kayal mam doesn't teach us to stamp certain hand gestures but also the beautiful stories behind it. She puts a lot of effort to make sure we get things right. Having kayal mam as a teacher is a great blessing. Kayal mam and kayals academy will always have a special place in my heart. Under kayal mam's guidance, not only I had successfully completed my salangai pooja but also learnt discipline and self confidence.
